Transforming Dreams at McKinley Park

When the City of Oklahoma City won a grant to refurbish an older, run-down park, they began searching for a suitable playground equipment company. With grand renovation plans in mind, they had high hopes for creating an innovative and inclusive play area that would unite their young community.

Planting the Seed of Playground Innovation

After transforming all other aspects of their community space, the City of Oklahoma City was on a mission to revamp their playground in a way that would capture their vision. Hoping to complement the style of their new community center, parking lots, and general landscape, the search began for a team who could connect with their dream! They chose KidsTale not only because of our quality products, industry experience, and affordability; but also because of our creativity. When we presented the initial design concept, the city immediately connected with the vision and were ready to take the first step towards tailor-made play.

Design at the ready, we set to work!

The City of Oklahoma City was keen to create an area that was safe yet adventurous, playful yet accessible for all, modern yet traditional. They wanted to make sure that every member of their community could take part in the art of play. Following all ADA (American with Disabilities Act) regulations, we took our ideas to the drawing board.

First, we sat down with the City of Oklahoma City to identify all their requirements and present the plan of action. We listened carefully to their ideas, their needs, their goals. We tailored the designs to fit their vision. And then we took these plans to our North American factory and started building grand adventures!

The Outcome

Inspired by our Maximo playground series, but crafted to fit the specific needs of the city, we combined different pieces of play to match big dreams with great tales of adventure. Knocking down the old, wooden playground that had inhabited their community space, we crafted every new element of play with thoughtful care. Using soft notes of green, brown, and beige, we designed the play area to blend in with the natural environment surrounding McKinley Park. And including triple slides, rock climbers, monkey bars, drums, and swings, we built upon their vision to invite children of all ages and abilities to join in on the action.

Spacious, adventurous, and built for maximum fun, McKinley Park is now used by hundreds of City of Oklahoma City dwellers on the hunt for outdoor adventure.

These duo drums are strategically placed to enable children of all abilities to write melodies of playground adventure. Tap to the beat of sensory play and bring new depths of fun to your community space.

Twist and Slide

This tube slide twists and turns down the path of fun. Sturdy and safe, your kids can peak out through the looking glass as they slide towards their friends.

The Mountain Climber

This nifty climber is suitable for children of all ages. With climbing holds dotted around the mountain of fun, your kids can climb up, around or straight through into the world of their imaginations.
